Crystal Shipsss – “Yay” (digital download included)

Here are some words on the album:
“From light and airy, to heavy and fuzzed out, Yay is a journey into Faurholt’s extraordinary range as a songwiter.” - FZB

Yay sports a disarming falsetto throughout from Faurholt and arrangements that emphasize melody and noise in equal measure.  It’s an impressive little record that, on its best songs (“Smile”, “Geyser”, “Uh Huh”), is truly captivating.” - Pop Headwound

Crystal Shipsss will also play a couple of shows in December together with the Canadian acts Man Meets Bear and Slight Birching.

13/12: Antje Oeklesund, Berlin
16/12: Frühperle, Berlin

“lo-fi psych weirdness”

The last couple of weeks I have been recording songs for my home recording project Crystal Shipsss. Here is some info on it:

About:
Crystal Shipsss is a home recording project of mine. All CS songs will be uploaded immediately after they have been recorded & mixed, and will be available for free download at Bandcamp as part of the Hopefully It Will Grow! album. The songs on this album should  be considered as demos/sketches/works in progress, and they will later appear on CS album releases in further edited & mastered versions.

Gold Soundz wrote:
“Berlin-based artist Jacob Faurholt makes lo-fi psych weirdness under the name Crystal Shipsss. I dig it, but I wouldn’t buy acid from him.”

“Dark Hours” – full album stream!

You can now stream my new album Dark Hours in its entirety at: BANDCAMP

Drowned in Sound  (7/10)
“The distortion on ‘Dark Hours’ doesn’t bolster the skeletal guitar so much as it lends it a lingering decrepitude which compliments Faurholt’s creaky vocals and gives the chorus of wheezing squeezebox and subtly brushed slo-mo drums the feel of a gorgeously meek rallying cry.

Rockfreaks (7/10)
“Because of this, the album isn’t a sordid, one-tone affair; it’s an album filled with variations of colour, texture and emotions.”

Disagreement
“Another influence might be the later works of Nick Drake. Just like this late singer/songwriter, Jacob Faurholt is an expert in conjuring icy cold moods full of intrinsic beauty.”

New album “Dark Hours” out today!

My new album Dark Hours is released today on Raw Onion Records. Its available in Danish record stores (distributed by Rillbar) & Itunes (in all countries). You can also buy a copy directly from me at Bandcamp. Have a good day :)
